Description

Peddamma Thalli Temple is situated in the Jubilee Hills and is one of the most popular religious temples of Hyderabad. It enjoys an optimal space in the middle of the city. It is said to be more than 150 years old. The temple took its current shape when the Rajagopuram was built, in the year 1993. Its architectural beauty and religious importance attracts thousands of devotees every day, making it one of the most significant places to visit on your Hyderabad City tour. Peddamma Temple is devoted to Goddess Lakhmi who is shown as Santhan Laxmi sitting on a lion (Simha Vahanam) and Maa Durga. The name Peddamma comes from two words ‘ Pedda ‘ and ‘ amma, ‘ meaning mother of mothers or the supreme mother, denoting the goddess. There's a place in the temple after the entrance where coins are placed vertically and the devotees go there to make a wish. The devotees believe that if they place a coin vertically there, then their wishes will be fulfilled.

श्री पेद्दाम्मा थल्ली मंदिर जुबली हिल्स में स्थित है और हैदराबाद के सबसे लोकप्रिय धार्मिक मंदिरों में से एक है। यह मंदिर शहर के बीच में एक इष्टतम स्थान प्राप्त करता है। यह 150 साल से अधिक पुराना मंदिर बताया जाता है। वर्ष 1993 में राजगोपुरम के निर्माण के साथ मंदिर ने अपना वर्तमान आकार लिया था। इसकी वास्तुकला और धार्मिक महत्व हर दिन हजारों भक्तों को आकर्षित करती है, जिसके कारण यह मंदिर आपके हैदराबाद शहर के दौरे पर आने के लिए सबसे महत्वपूर्ण स्थानों में से एक है। पेद्दाम्मा मंदिर देवी लक्ष्मी, जिन्हें सिंह वामन पर बैठे हुए संतान लक्ष्मी के रूप में दिखाया गया है, और माँ दुर्गा को समर्पित मंदिर है । पेद्दाम्मा नाम दो शब्दों के मिलन से बना है: पेद्दा और अम्मा, जिनका अर्थ है सर्वोच्च मां, जो माँ लक्ष्मी को दर्शाता है। प्रवेश द्वार के बाद मंदिर में एक स्थान है जहाँ सिक्के रखे जाते हैं और भक्त मनोकामना मांगने के लिए वहाँ जाते हैं। भक्तों का मानना है कि अगर वे एक सिक्का वहां खड़ा कर सकते हैं, तो उनकी इच्छाएं पूरी होंगी।

Temple Story

The origin of the Peddamma Thalli Temple is described by many stories/legends. According to one legend, the goddess had come to quench her thirst at this place after killing a demon. A shepherd later found an idol of the goddess at the same location where the temple stands now. Another legend says that, a creature called Mahishasura, the son of water buffalo and the snake king Rambha had defied the god of heaven, Indra. He had the blessings of Lord Brahma that neither man not god could kill him but he became more vengeful over time. Therefore, to put and end to his cruelties, Goddess Durga came into being at the request of other gods and blessings of the Holy Trinity-Lord Brahma, Lord Vishnu, and Lord Shiva. Together with the forces of Trinity and other gods, the Goddess with great power killed Mahishasura in a fierce fight.

एक कथा के अनुसार, देवी राक्षस महिषासुर को मारने के बाद इस स्थान पर पानी पीने के लिए आई थीं। बाद में एक चरवाहे को उसी स्थान पर देवी की एक मूर्ति मिली, जहाँ अब मंदिर खड़ा है। किंवदंती के अनुसार, महिषासुर नामक एक राक्षश, स्वर्ग के देवता इंद्र को ललकार रहा था। उसे भगवान ब्रह्मा का आशीर्वाद था कि न तो मनुष्य और न ही भगवान उसे मार सकता था, बल्कि वह समय के साथ और अधिक तामसिक हो गया। इसलिए, उसकी क्रूरताओं को समाप्त करने के लिए, देवी दुर्गा अन्य देवताओं और पवित्र त्रिमूर्ति-भगवान ब्रह्मा, भगवान विष्णु और भगवान शिव के आशीर्वाद के अनुरोध पर अस्तित्व में आईं। त्रिमूर्ति और अन्य देवताओं की सेनाओं के साथ मिलकर, महान शक्ति वाली देवी ने इस भयंकर लड़ाई में महिषासुर का वध किया।
