Description

Trimbakeshwar is just 28 kilometers away from Nashik city and it is here that the sacred river Godavari originates at Brahmagiri. Trimbakeshwar is one of the holiest places in Hindu religion and occupies a special position in the religious beliefs of every Hindu. It is among the 12 ‘jyotirlingas’ dedicated to Lord Shiva. Located in the Trimbakeshwar taluka of Nashik district where the river Godavari originates at the adjacent hill of Brahmagiri, the place has both historical and mythological significance because of the presence of several caves which have had association with the ‘Nath’ sect. The ‘Kumbh Mela’ which is the largest mass Hindu pilgrimage, is held here every twelve years.

त्र्यंबकेश्वर नासिक शहर से सिर्फ 28 किलोमीटर दूर है और यहाँ पर पवित्र नदी गोदावरी ब्रह्मगिरी पहाड़ से निकलती है। प्रत्येक हिंदू के धार्मिक विश्वासों में एक विशेष स्थान पाने वाले सबसे पवित्र स्थानों में से एक त्र्यंबकेश्वर है। एक कारण यह है कि यह भगवान शिव को समर्पित 12 ज्योतिर्लिंगों में से एक है। नासिक जिले के त्र्यंबकेश्वर तालुका में स्थित है जहाँ गोदावरी नदी ब्रह्मगिरि के समीपवर्ती पहाड़ी पर स्थित है । कई गुफाओं की मौजूदगी के कारण इस स्थान का ऐतिहासिक और पौराणिक महत्व है। 'कुंभ मेला' जो कि सबसे बड़ा सामूहिक हिंदू तीर्थ है, यहाँ हर बारह साल में आयोजित किया जाता है।

Temple Story

It is symbolic of the origin of Godavari and hence considered a sacred bathing place for the Hindus. The temple of Trimbakeshwar is said to have been reconstructed by Peshwa Balaji Bajirao i.e. Nanasaheb Peshwa. The temple faces east and is constructed from stone. The mighty mountain, Brahmagiri, is just behind this temple. Brahmagiri occupies a prominent place in the history of Trimbakeshwar and since Godavari has its actual origin from the top of this mountain, it is called Ganga Teerth. The water percolates from the rocks into a cave and emerges as a river. According to mythology, it was Shiva who made way for the Godavari to flow from the locks of his hair, thereby making it so sacred. During the month of Shravan, a ‘parikrama’ of the Brahmagiri is performed as a ritual and thousands of devotees arrive here during the entire month.

यह गोदावरी की उत्पत्ति का प्रतीक है और इसलिए इसे हिंदुओं के लिए एक पवित्र स्नान स्थल माना जाता है। कहा जाता है कि त्र्यंबकेश्वर मंदिर का पुनर्निर्माण पेशवा बालाजी बाजीराव यानी नानासाहेब पेशवा द्वारा कराया गया था। मंदिर का मुख पूर्व की ओर है और इसका निर्माण पत्थर से किया गया है। ताकतवर पर्वत, ब्रह्मगिरि, इस मंदिर के ठीक पीछे है। ब्रह्मगिरि त्र्यंबकेश्वर के इतिहास में एक प्रमुख स्थान रखता है और चूँकि इस पर्वत के ऊपर से गोदावरी की वास्तविक उत्पत्ति होती है, इसलिए इसे गंगा तीर्थ कहा जाता है। पानी चट्टानों से एक गुफा में निकलता है और नदी के रूप में निकलता है। पौराणिक कथाओं के अनुसार, यह शिव थे जिन्होंने गोदावरी को अपने जटाओं से प्रवाहित किया था, जिससे यह स्थान पवित्र हो गया। श्रावण के महीने में ब्रह्मगिरि के एक परिक्रमा को एक अनुष्ठान के रूप में किया जाता है और पूरे महीने के दौरान हजारों भक्त यहां पहुंचते हैं।
