Description

Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple is one of the highly revered shrines, located in the heart of Lucknow, Hazratganj. Featuring the majestic idol of Lord Hanuman, the temple is thronged by numerous devotees, especially every Tuesday (considered as Lord Hanuman’s day).The temple has 2 Neem Karoli Baba murtis, 2 Hanuman murtis, and 2 Shiva Linga installed in the main abode. Another impressive feature is the frescoes adorning the walls of the temple, depicting a scene from the Hindu epic Ramayana. The walls of the temple are engraved magnificently with Ram, Lakshman and Sita pictures along with Hanuman. Murals also depict the army of monkeys and bears building the bridge to Lanka. The main priest inside the temple premises also told us that Hanuman Sethu Temple or Lucknow Sankat Mochan Hanuman-ji is "the Governor General of all Hanuman's." An interesting fact about this temple in Lucknow is that a large number of devotees write letters to Lord Hanuman here, describing their problems or making a wish. संकट मोचन हनुमान मंदिर लखनऊ, हजरतगंज के केंद्र में स्थित एक प्रतिष्ठित मंदिर है। मंदिर में 2 नीम करोली बाबा जी की मुर्तियाँ, 2 हनुमान जी की मुर्तियाँ, और 2 शिवलिंग स्थापित हैं। मंदिर की दीवारों पर हनुमान के साथ राम, लक्ष्मण और सीता के चित्रों को भव्यता से उकेरा गया है। भित्ति चित्र में बंदर और भालू की सेना को लंका पर पुल बनाते हुए दिखाया गया है। लखनऊ के इस मंदिर के बारे में एक दिलचस्प तथ्य यह है कि बड़ी संख्या में भक्त यहाँ भगवान हनुमान को पत्र लिखते हैं, अपनी समस्याओं का वर्णन करते हैं और अपनी इच्छाएं बताते हैं। ऐसा कहा जाता है कि ये सभी पत्र प्रभु के सामने उनके समाधान और आशीर्वाद मांगने के लिए पढ़े जाते हैं।

Temple Story

The temple was developed by a Hindu saint Neem Karoli Baba who started by building a small temple on the banks of Gomti River in Lucknow. However, in 1960, a huge flood swept most of Lucknow along with the old bridge near the temple and the old temple. Only the Hanuman statue was left untouched from the floods. The Government of Uttar Pradesh allotted a plot of land near a newly constructed bridge for the temple's construction.

मंदिर का विकास हिंदू संत नीम करोली बाबा द्वारा किया गया था, जिन्होंने लखनऊ में गोमती नदी के किनारे एक मंदिर का निर्माण शुरू किया था। हालांकि, 1960 में, पुराना मंदिर और पुराना पुल लखनऊ में आयी बड़ी बाढ़ में डूब गया। केवल हनुमान जी की मूर्ती बाढ़ से अछूती रह गई थी। उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने नए मंदिर के निर्माण के लिए एक नवनिर्मित पुल के पास भूमि का आवंटन किया।
