Description

Shri Khatu Shyam Ji Mandir is a Hindu temple located in the village of Khatushyamji, Rajasthan. It's a very popular temple with pilgrims. It is believed that the temple houses the miraculously rediscovered head of Khatushyam or Babarika, a persona of Mahabharata.

श्री खाटू श्याम जी मंदिर, राजस्थान के खाटूश्यामजी गाँव में स्थित एक हिंदू मंदिर है। यह तीर्थयात्रियों के लिए बहुत लोकप्रिय मंदिर है। ऐसा माना जाता है कि मंदिर में महाभारत के एक व्यक्ति खाटूश्याम या बर्बरीक का चमत्कारी रूप से सिर पाया गया था।

Temple Story

Legend says that before the beginning of the Mahabharata Barbarika's last wish was to see the battle of Mahabharata. Therefore, Lord Krishna placed his head on the top of a mountain so that Barbarika could see the war. Many years after the beginning of Kali Yuga, the head was found buried in the Khatu village located in present day Rajasthan. The location was obscured until well after the Kali Yuga period began. After that, suddenly on an occasion, milk started flowing spontaneously out of a cow's udder when she neared the burial spot. Astonished by this incident, the local villagers dug the place up and the buried head was found. The head was handed over to a Brahmin who worshipped it for many days, awaiting divine revelations to find out what was to be done next. Roopsingh Chauhan, king of Khatu, then had a dream where he was inspired to build a temple and install the head therein. Subsequently, a temple was built and the idol was installed on the 11th day of the Shukla Paksha (bright half) of the month of Phalgun.

किंवदंती के अनुसार महाभारत की शुरुआत से पहले बर्बरीक की आखिरी इच्छा महाभारत के युद्ध को देखने की थी। इसलिए, भगवान कृष्ण ने उनका सिर एक पहाड़ की चोटी पर रख दिया, ताकि बर्बरीक युद्ध देख सके। कलियुग की शुरुआत के कई वर्षों बाद, सिर वर्तमान राजस्थान में स्थित खाटू गाँव में पाया गया। अचानक एक मौके पर, जब एक गाय दफनाए हुए स्थान के पास पहुंची, तो गाय के थन से दूध बहने लगा। इस घटना से चकित होकर, स्थानीय ग्रामीणों ने उस स्थान को खोदा और दफन हुए सिर को निकाला। सिर एक ब्राह्मण को सौंप दिया गया, जो कई दिनों तक इसकी पूजा करता रहा। खाटू के राजा रूपसिंह चौहान ने तब एक सपना देखा, जिसने उन्हें मंदिर बनाने और वहां सिर स्थापित करने के लिए प्रेरित किया । इसके बाद, एक मंदिर बनाया गया और मूर्ति को फाल्गुन महीने के शुक्ल पक्ष के 11 वें दिन स्थापित किया गया।
