Description

Constructed in the shape of a fort, this place of worship of Lord Hanuman is situated in the centre of the town. The 10th century temple can be reached by climbing 76 steps. Legend has it that Hanuman lived here in a cave and guarded the Janambhoomi or Ramkot. The main temple contains the statue of Maa Anjani, with Bal Hanuman seated on her lap. The devotees believe that all their wishes are granted with a visit to this holy shrine. A massive structure in the shape of a four sided fort with circular bastions at each corner houses a temple of Lord Hanuman and is the most popular shrine in Ayodhya. Every day thousands of devotees visit Hanuman Garhi to offer prayers and seek Lord Hanuman’s protection from evils and blessings for happiness and prosperity.

एक किले के आकार में निर्मित, हनुमान जी की पूजा का स्थान शहर के केंद्र में स्थित है। यह मंदिर 10 वीं शताब्दी में बनाया गया था । किंवदंती है कि हनुमान जी यहां एक गुफा में रहते थे और जन्मभूमि या रामकोट की रक्षा करते थे। मुख्य मंदिर में मां अंजनी की मूर्ति है, जिसमें बाल हनुमान माँ की गोद में बैठे हैं। भक्तों का मानना है कि इस पवित्र मंदिर की यात्रा उनकी सभी इच्छाओं को पूरा कर देती है। हर दिन हजारों भक्त हनुमान गढ़ी में पूजा-अर्चना करने और सुख-समृद्धि के लिए भगवान हनुमान की प्रार्थना के लिए आते है ।

Temple Story

One of the central characters of Ramayana, Lord Hanuman is himself a devotee of Lord Rama, and so it fits that Hanuman holds a place of importance at Ayodhya, the birthplace of Lord Rama. The temple complex is a huge structure that is shaped as a four sided fort, and each of its corners has circular bastions and this structure houses a temple of Lord Hanuman. You can come here at any given time of the year, but it is during Hanuman Jayanti and Ram Navami that this place lights up and becomes truly alive. Lord Hanuman holds a special place in not only Hindu religion, but also Jainism and Buddhism; the Lord Hanuman is revered in many parts of Asia, and is considered one of the most powerful Gods among Gods. Lord Hanuman is in fact considered to be the reincarnation of Lord Shiva. The Hanuman Garhi Temple in Ayodhya is definitely one of the most important places of worship for Lord Hanuman.
