Description

The Dwarkanath Temple is situated in Dwarka which is about 145 kilometers from Jamnagar and considered as the entrance of Western India. Dwarkadish is included in one of the most holy pilgrimage yatras for Hindu faith called the Chardham Yatra and this temple is dedicated to Lord Krishna's life. It is located on the western most tip of Saurastra region of Gujarat. The image of Lord Krishna is present in the form of four-armed Lord Vishnu (Lord Krishna is the incarnation of Lord Vishnu) known as Trivikrama(Vamana avatar of Lord Vishnu). Apart from the main idol, there are even idols of Balrama, brother of Lord Krishna, Pradyumna and Aniruddha (the grandsons of Lord Krishna). There is even a small shrine dedicated to Kuseswara Mahadeva, avatar of Lord Shiva . Besides all these, there are shrines dedicated to Devaki - mother of Lord Krishna, Veni-Madhava - Lord Vishnu, Radhika, Jambuvati, Satyabhama, Lakshmi, Saraswati and Lakshmi-Narayan in the temple complex.

द्वारकानाथ मंदिर द्वारका में स्थित है और इसे पश्चिमी भारत का प्रवेश द्वार माना जाता है। द्वारकाधीश हिंदू धर्म के चारधाम कहे जाने वाले सबसे पवित्र तीर्थ स्थलों में से एक है और यह भगवान कृष्ण के जीवन को समर्पित है। यह गुजरात के सौराष्ट्र क्षेत्र के पश्चिमी छोर पर स्थित है। भगवान कृष्ण की मूर्ति चार-सशस्त्र विष्णु (भगवान कृष्ण जो भगवान विष्णु के अवतार हैं) के रूप में प्रस्तुत की जाती है जिसे त्रिविक्रम के रूप में जाना जाता है। मुख्य मूर्ति के अलावा भगवान कृष्ण के भाई बलदेवजी (बलराम), प्रद्युम्न और अनिरुद्ध (भगवान कृष्ण के पोते) की भी मूर्तियाँ हैं। यहां तक कि एक छोटा सा मंदिर भी है जो कुसेश्वर महादेव (भगवान शिव का अवतार) को समर्पित है। इन सभी के अलावा भगवान कृष्ण की माँ देवकी, वेणी-माधव (भगवान विष्णु का अवतार), जम्बुवती, सत्यभामा, लक्ष्मी, सरस्वती और लक्ष्मी-नारायण को मंदिर समर्पित हैं।

Temple Story

As per Hindu legend, Dwarka was built on a piece of land that was reclaimed from the sea by Krishna .Sage Durvasa once visited Krishna and his wife Rukmini. The sage wished that the pair took him to their palace. The pair readily agreed and started walking with the sage to their palace. After some distance, Rukmini got tired and she requested some water from Krishna. Krishna dug a mythical hole that brought in river Ganga to the place. Sage Durvasa was furious and cursed Rukmini to remain in the place. The temple where Rukmini's shrine is found, is believed as the same place where she stood.

हिंदू कथा के अनुसार, द्वारका को भगवान कृष्ण द्वारा जमीन के एक टुकड़े पर बनाया गया था जो समुद्र से निकाला गया था। ऋषि दुर्वासा एक बार भगवान कृष्ण और उनकी पत्नी रुक्मिणी से मिलने गए। ऋषि की इच्छा थी कि दोनों उन्हें अपने महल में ले जाए। दोनों आसानी से सहमत हो गए और ऋषि के साथ उनके महल में जाने लगे। कुछ दूर जाने के बाद रुक्मिणी थक गईं और उन्होंने भगवान कृष्ण से पानी का अनुरोध किआ। भगवान कृष्ण ने एक पौराणिक छेद खोदा जो गंगा नदी का पानी ले आया। ऋषि दुर्वासा उग्र हो गए और रुक्मिणी को उसी जगह में रहने के लिए शाप दिया। जिस मंदिर में रुक्मिणी का मंदिर पाया जाता है, माना जाता है कि वह अभी तक उस स्थान पर खड़ी थी।
