Description

Zeashta Devi Shrine or Zeathyar is a Hindu shrine located in Srinagar in the Indian State of Jammu and Kashmir. It is set amidst a cross-section of Shankaracharya mountain and Zabarvan hills overlooking the famous Dal Lake in Srinagar. Thousands of devotees come to visit this shrine in Kashmir in the summer season. It’s dedicated to Goddess Jyestha who protects people from natural disasters.

ज्येष्ठा देवी तीर्थ एक हिंदू मंदिर है जो भारतीय राज्य जम्मू और कश्मीर की राजधानी श्रीनगर में स्थित है। यह श्रीनगर में प्रसिद्ध डल झील के सामने शंकराचार्य पर्वत और ज़बरवन पहाड़ियों के क्रॉस-सेक्शन के बीच में स्थित है। हजारों श्रद्धालु गर्मी के मौसम में कश्मीर के इस मंदिर में दर्शन के लिए आते हैं। यह मंदिर ज्येष्ठा देवी को समर्पित है जो लोगों को प्राकृतिक आपदाओं से बचाती है।

Temple Story

Legend says that King Gopaditya built the shrine in the 6th century. King Lalitaditya renovated it in the 8th century. Other origin stories relate it to Ashoka, or even the Pandavas from The Mahabharata. One can easily feel the peace and divine blessings by offering prayers here and spending some time here. This historical temple is almost 3000 years old and is a very important symbol of Hindu culture in Kashmir Valley. The temple sees a lot of activity during May and June, the months of the Jyeshta Ashtami festival. There is also a 'Maha Yagya' held every year in this temple praying for the attainment of peace in Kashmir.

किंवदंती के अनुसार राजा गोपादित्य ने 6 वीं शताब्दी में मंदिर का निर्माण किया था। राजा ललितादित्य ने 8 वीं शताब्दी में इसका जीर्णोद्धार कराया। कई कहानियो के अनुसार ये मंदिर सम्राट अशोक या महाभारत के पांडवों ने बनवाया था। यहाँ प्रार्थना करने और कुछ समय बिताने से शांति की प्राप्ति महसूस हो सकती है। यह ऐतिहासिक मंदिर लगभग 3000 साल पुराना है और कश्मीर घाटी में हिंदू संस्कृति का एक बहुत महत्वपूर्ण प्रतीक है। ज्येष्ठ अष्टमी त्योहार में मंदिर में मई और जून के महीनो के दौरान बहुत सारी गतिविधि देखी जा सकती है। इस मंदिर में हर साल एक महा यज्ञ आयोजित होता है, जिसमें कश्मीर घाटी में शांति की प्राप्ति के लिए प्रार्थना की जाती है।
