Description

The Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple complex is the main pilgrimage spot in Mathura and the focal point of Lord Krishna's mythological stories. A narrow street full of shops precedes the temple complex where visitors are subjected to security checks. Once inside, peace, calm and spirituality prevails. Shri Krishna Janmabhoomi Temple is built around the prison cell in which Lord Krishna was born after his parents Mata Devaki & Vasudeva were imprisoned by his evil uncle Kansa. Inside the complex is a small shrine dedicated to Lord Krishna adorned with ornaments, a well from where jail inmates were fed water and a shrine for yogmaya (daughter of Nand Baba).The legend has it that the temple was first built on this site by Vajranabha, Lord Krishna’s great grandson; and has been rebuilt several times over the centuries that followed. The present temple houses paintings of scenes from Lord Krishna’s life and idols of Lord Krishna and his beloved Radha.

मथुरा में कृष्ण जन्मभूमि मंदिर परिसर मुख्य तीर्थ स्थान है और भगवान कृष्ण की कथाओं का केंद्र है।श्री कृष्ण जन्मभूमि मंदिर जेल की उस कोठरी के चारों ओर बनाया गया है, जिसमें भगवान कृष्ण का जन्म हुआ था। उनके माता देवकी और पिता वासुदेव को बुरे चाचा कंस ने इसी कोठरी में कैद किआ था। परिसर के अंदर एक छोटा सा मंदिर है जो भगवान कृष्ण को अलंकारों से सुशोभित करता है, एक कुआ है जहाँ से जेल के कैदियों को पानी पिलाया जाता था और योगमाया (नंद बाबा की पुत्री) के लिए एक मंदिर है। किंवदंती है कि मंदिर को सबसे पहले इसी स्थल पर वज्रनाभ, कृष्ण के परपोते, द्वारा बनाया गया था। और इसके बाद की शताब्दियों में कई बार पुनर्निर्माण किया गया है। वर्तमान मंदिर में भगवान कृष्ण के जीवन के दृश्य और भगवान कृष्ण और उनकी प्रिय राधा की मूर्तियों हैं।

Temple Story

According to Hindu traditions, Lord Krishna was born to Devaki and Vasudeva in a prison cell where they were confined by Lord Krishna's maternal uncle Kansa, a king of Mathura, due to prophecy of his death by the child of his sister, Devaki. According to the story, a temple dedicated to Krishna was built at the birthplace by Lord Krishna's great grandson Vajranabh.

श्री कृष्ण जन्मभूमि मंदिर जेल की उस कोठरी के चारों ओर बनाया गया है, जिसमें भगवान कृष्ण का जन्म हुआ था। उनके माता देवकी और पिता वासुदेव को बुरे चाचा कंस ने इसी कोठरी में कैद किआ था क्युकी यह भविष्यवाणी थी कि कंस का वध देवकी का पुत्र करेगा। कहानी के अनुसार, श्री कृष्ण को समर्पित इस मंदिर का निर्माण उनके परपोते वज्रनाभ ने किया था।
