Description

Shree Swaminarayan Mandir Kalupur is the first Temple of the Swaminarayan Community, a Hindu sect. It is located in Kalupur area of Ahmedabad, the largest city in Gujarat, India. It was built on the instructions of Swaminarayan, the founder of the sect. As per the will of Swaminarayan, the administration of the Swaminarayan Community is divided into two gadis (seats) - NarNarayan Dev Gadi and LaxmiNarayan Dev Gadi. This Temple is the headquarters of the NarNarayan Dev Gadi.

श्री स्वामीनारायण मंदिर कालूपुर एक हिंदू संप्रदाय, स्वामीनारायण संप्रदाय का पहला मंदिर है। यह भारत के गुजरात के सबसे बड़े शहर अहमदाबाद के कालूपुर इलाके में स्थित है। यह संप्रदाय के संस्थापक स्वामीनारायण के निर्देश पर बनाया गया था। स्वामीनारायण की इच्छा के अनुसार, स्वामीनारायण सम्प्रदाय के प्रशासन को दो गडियों - नारायणारन देव गादी और लक्ष्मीनारायण देव गादी में विभाजित किया गया है। यह मंदिर नरनारायण देव गादी का मुख्यालय है।

Temple Story

The land for the construction of the temple was commissioned to Swaminarayan by the British Imperial Government, following which Swamiji personally transferred the responsibility of the temple to Ananandanand Swami. The construction of the temple was completed on February 24, 1822, and the sculptures of the Lord were installed in the sanctum in the presence of about 50,000 pilgrims from all over the country. The temple found an unlikely admirer in Sir Dunlop, a British officer who then allocated an area of 5,000 acres in Kalupur of Ahmedabad to the temple authority. Upon the completion of the temple, Sir Dunlop commanded a 101 gun salute in honour of the edifice. The temple was always a big part of the development of the community, and when the British wanted to build a railway station in Kalupur, the temple returned part of the land allocated to them. Subsequently, they were compensated by the government in the form of another 1,000 acres of land in Narayan Nagar village situated nearby.

मंदिर के निर्माण के लिए भूमि ब्रिटिश इंपीरियल सरकार द्वारा स्वामीनारायण को दी गई थी, जिसके बाद स्वामीजी ने मंदिर की ज़िम्मेदारी आननंदानंद स्वामी को सौंप दी थी। मंदिर का निर्माण 24 फरवरी, 1822 को पूरा हुआ था, और देश भर से लगभग 50,000 तीर्थयात्रियों की उपस्थिति में गर्भगृह में भगवान की मूर्तियां स्थापित की गई थीं। मंदिर को एक ब्रिटिश अधिकारी सर डनलप में एक अप्रत्याशित प्रशंसक मिला, जिसने मंदिर प्राधिकरण को अहमदाबाद के कालूपुर में 5,000 एकड़ क्षेत्र आवंटित किया था। मंदिर के पूरा होने पर, सर डनलप ने उद्घाटन के सम्मान में 101 बंदूक की सलामी दी। मंदिर हमेशा समुदाय के विकास का एक बड़ा हिस्सा रहा है, और जब अंग्रेज कालूपुर में एक रेलवे स्टेशन का निर्माण करना चाहते थे, तो मंदिर ने उन्हें आवंटित भूमि का हिस्सा वापस कर दिया। इसके बाद, उन्हें सरकार द्वारा पास में स्थित नारायण नगर गाँव में एक और 1,000 एकड़ भूमि के रूप में मुआवजा दिया गया।
