Description

Mahamaya Temple is a temple dedicated to dual Goddess Lakshmi & Saraswati, located in Ratanpur and is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas spread across India. Ratanpur is a small city, full of temples and ponds, situated around 25 km from district Bilaspur of Chhattisgarh.Goddess Mahamaya is also known as Kosaleswari. It was built during the reign of Kalachuris of Ratnapura. It is said to be located at the spot where king Ratnadeva had darshan of goddess Kali. This temple is built in Nagara style of architecture.

महामाया मंदिर रतनपुर में स्थित दोहरी देवी लक्ष्मी और सरस्वती को समर्पित है और यह मंदिर 51 शक्तिपीठों में से एक है। रतनपुर एक छोटा शहर है, जो मंदिरों और तालाबों से भरा हुआ है, अथवा छत्तीसगढ़ के जिला बिलासपुर से लगभग 25 किलोमीटर की दूरी पर स्थित है। महामाया देवी को कोलेश्वरी देवी के रूप में भी जाना जाता है। यह रत्नापुरा के कलचुरियों के शासनकाल के दौरान बनाया गया था। यह उस स्थान पर स्थित है, जहां राजा रत्नदेव ने देवी काली के दर्शन किये थे। यह मंदिर वास्तुकला की नागर शैली में बना हुआ है।

Temple Story

Mahamaya temple stands to face towards North and is located beside a huge water tank. Mahamaya temple was established during the rule of Kalchuri King Ratnadev-I who was a founder of Haihaiyavansi Kingdom. It is believed that the temple was established at the site where King Ratandev-I had darshan of Goddess Kali. Originally, the temple was built for three goddesses, including Goddess Mahakali, MahaLakshmi and Maha Saraswati. This current temple was constructed in 1492 AD by King Bahar Sai, especially for goddess Maha Lakshmi and Goddess Maha Saraswati. Mahamaya is the Kuldevi of Ratanpur state. The main temple is surrounded by huge halls where Jyoti Kalashas(Diyas) are lit on behalf of the devotees. The Kalashas are kept “alive” for the entire nine days of Navratri. This is why they are also called Akhand Manookaamna Jyoti Kalashas.

महामाया मंदिर कलचुरी राजा रत्नदेव-प्रथम के शासन के दौरान स्थापित किया गया था, जो हैहयवंशी साम्राज्य के संस्थापक थे। यह माना जाता है कि मंदिर की स्थापना उस स्थान पर की गई थी जहाँ राजा रतनदेव-प्रथम को देवी काली के दर्शन हुए थे। मूल रूप से, देवी महाकाली, महालक्ष्मी और महासरस्वती के लिए मंदिर का निर्माण किया गया था। इस वर्तमान मंदिर का निर्माण 1492 ईस्वी में विशेष रूप से देवी महालक्ष्मी और देवी महासरस्वती के लिए राजा बहार साई द्वारा किया गया था। महामाया रतनपुर राज्य की कुलदेवी हैं। मुख्य मंदिर विशाल हॉल से घिरा हुआ है जहाँ भक्तों की ओर से ज्योति कलश जलाए जाते हैं। नवरात्रि के पूरे नौ दिनों तक कलशों को "जीवित" रखा जाता है। यही कारण है कि उन्हें अखंड मनोकामना ज्योति कलश भी कहा जाता है।
